There is a new shoe brand that is all the rage. Shape Up brand shoes claim to tone your legs as you walk. It is like exercise without even trying, but do they do all that they claim?

Shape Up shoes throw off your center of balance, which is what they aim to do. They create a stride similar to what humanity was used to before all of this technology. It is like walking bare foot over rough and uneven terrain, or even just a grassy meadow. Your leg muscles are constantly being called to balance you. You will not burn a ton of calories this way, but they are a good shoe. They promote overall foot health in a way no other shoes do.

Shoes that are bad for you include high heels, which everyone already knew. Along with some recent trends creating heels so high that they could actually snap the ligaments in your legs, they hold your foot in a position that it is not natural for it to be in. There is a well defined correlation between the height of the heel and the potential damage it can cause. The higher the heel, the less natural the arch is. So if you must wear heels, keep them short.

Another horrible shoe is the flip flop. This is surprising to many because they are so popular with every age range. There are two major problems with the flip flop. The first is that there is no support for the arch of your foot. Walking on a shoe with no arch support will eventually cause your arch to collapse, which will lead to arthritis of the foot. The pother problem is the constant effort it takes to keep the shoes on through your toes. With each step you take, your toes are working overtime. This can cause a myriad of problems. You could get hammer toe, where your toe is permanently in a bent position. You could develop arthritis, making every step painful.

Although there are many beautiful and fashionable shoes out there, like classified shoes, you need to think of your health in the long term. You can find trendy shoes that will not do so much damage, because arthritis and hammer toe are not cute.
