Tips to Get Rid of Back Acne
Acne can appear anywhere on the body where there are hair follicles or pores and oil-producing glands. This includes your chest, shoulders and back other than your face. However, back acne, also called as “bacne” can be very painful and particularly disturbing.
The skin at the back of your body contains numerous sebaceous glands that produce sebum or oil. Sebum, when combined with dirt and dead skin cells, clog up your pores on the skin. This is a deadly combination that attracts bacteria-causing acne. The clogged pores eventually form into pimple lesions or acne.
There are several factors that cause or aggravate the acne on your back such as hormonal changes and genetics. Those are factors that you can not control or modify. However, you can cut down your chances of getting back acne by following the given tips below:
1. Cleanse your body regularly. Take a shower at least one a day. Athletes or anyone who sweats a lot should wash their body right after any strenuous activities.
2. Do exfoliate using body scrubs or loofah. This will thoroughly remove dirt and dead skin cells on your skin. Make use of mild soaps or anti-acne body soaps. Avoid excessive rubbing.
3. Avoid putting powder on your back. Powder when mixed with dirt and sweat can clog up pores and cause acne. Instead, pat your back with dry towel to keep it fresh,
4. Wear loose clothes made of cotton. This will keep sweat out of your skin. Also, cotton is a natural and soft material that is less likely to irritate the skin.
5. Avoid putting pressure on your back. Prolonged pressure on your skin can trigger the appearance of a certain type of back acne called acne mechanica.
If you already have acne on your back, you can try to get rid of it by doing the following methods:
1. Use an over-the-counter treatment. There are several products in the market that contain ingredients that help treat different types of acne. Choose the product that fits your skin perfectly.
2. Practice good hygiene. Proper skin care is also important in order to get rid of back acne. Make sure you cleanse your body thoroughly with mild soap. Avoid squeezing acne lesions to prevent further infection.
3. Seek professional help. If your back acne is not clearing up after trying all the interventions suggested above, visit your dermatologist to seek help. Your dermatologist can properly assess your bacne and prescribe appropriate back acne treatment or medications to help you control it.
